EDGE Gives Back
Announcing our 2016 Beneficiary
Part of what makes Metro EDGE an impactful organization is our members’ commitment to philanthropic engagement. As part of our mission of giving back to the community, Metro EDGE selects a beneficiary each year to support with volunteer recruitment, community engagement and fundraising efforts.
Homelessness is an issue that is increasingly prevalent in the Sacramento region. In an effort to alleviate this and raise awareness among the young professional community, EDGE is focusing its philanthropic and regional advocacy efforts on a 2016 partnership with Next Move.
Next Move’s mission is to help get more individuals and families with children off the streets, back to work, and back home. Next Move’s services include: programs for temporary shelter and permanent supportive housing, providing individual success plans, self-sufficiency workshops on living skills, parenting, budgeting, housing, health and mental health care, housing relocation assistance, employment readiness and community support services.
Next Move’s impact in the region continues to evolve, and recently they merged with another local organization — Francis House. Francis House provides assistance to families and individuals toward self-reliance.
EDGE is planning volunteer opportunities and fundraising efforts throughout 2016. Stay tuned for additional details on how to get involved with Next Move and the first Day on the EDGE volunteer opportunity, which is scheduled for February.
Next Move’s Family Shelter program is one of the only two shelters in Sacramento that accepts families intact, without restriction on household composition.
