Hope for the Holidays | Next Move Homeless Services

Join our annual Hope For The Holidays Adopt-A-Family project. This project helps support bringing Christmas cheer to very low-income and homeless families with children who are participating in Next Move programs. With program expansion, we need your help more than ever! Our goal is to have all 125 families adopted by December 16th. Interested in participating in this worthwhile volunteer activity? This year, we are seeking Secret Santa sponsors to provide 150 Christmas gift filled “stockings” (gift bags/adult backpacks) to chronically homeless, disabled, seniors & older adults who are currently in Next Move’s permanent supportive housing, safety-net, emergency shelter and motel voucher programs. If you want to participate, simply fill reusable gift bags or adult type backpacks with eight or more of the suggested items listed below (or similar) and drop them off at Next Move now through December 16th.

Personal Care items: body soap, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and a toothbrush, chapstick, manicure set, hand sanitizer, deodorant, or a brush/comb set
Household Items: warm lap blankets, bath towel set, full-size bedding, kitchen towel sets, Kleenex, toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, cookware
Winter Gear: Warm socks, slippers, robe, hats, scarves, gloves, microwavable neck warmers
Snack & Food Items: Chocolate and nuts, dried fruit, fruit basket, Bisquick or muffin mix, Hickory Farms gift basket, popcorn, canned items
Miscellaneous: Crossword puzzles, grocery gift cards, umbrellas, deck of cards, dominos, wallet, music box, kitchen spice sets, or stationery (plus pens, postage stamps). For more information please email Amber Pickens.

Personal Hygiene Kits

We’re in need of hygiene kits to distribute to homeless seniors, individuals & families. Please assemble the kits to include toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, lotion, shampoo, sanitary napkins, body lotion, brushes, combs, hand sanitizer, nail cleaning supplies, shaving supplies etc. We accept any trial size, standard sizes or partially used products (except for used toothbrushes or razors).

YOU can make an immediate impact in the life of someone in need by bringing together your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to host a drive to collect basic hygiene products and winter warmth items for Next Move programs. All in-kind and monetary donations are fully tax deductible.
