A nightly shelter for single men and women (no children) that is a collaboration between First Step Communities, E49 Corporation, and Sacramento Self Help Housing. This shelter transports guests in need of shelter from one of the two pick-up locations to a different house of worship each evening throughout the winter months of November 21st through March 31st. A sleeping bag, a hot dinner, continental breakfast, and shelter are provided to the guests of this program. Screening for new clients at both pick-up locations: Monday through Friday 3 – 4:15 pm (arrive at 2:30 pm if not there the previous night), Check in for all pick up locations: Monday through Sunday 3 pm. Check out: Clients are dropped off at 7 am at the pickup locations.

Winter warming center open to 150 men, women and children that were not able to secure a bed from one of the shelters in town. The warming center allows people to find refuge from winter weather November 7, 2016 through the first week in March of 2017, depending on the weather. Hot drinks and snacks are provided. Located in the cafeteria where clients sit at tables, no bed provided. Clients are not allowed to sleep on the premises. No smoking, drinking or cussing, All rules have to be observed for the safety of all. May arrive any time after 10 pm, seven days a week.

Emergency shelter program provided by the local faith based community during the cold weather months. Open to homeless men and women (children on a case by case basis) in zip codes 95628, 65670, 95741 and 95742. Shelter is open from December 26, 2016 to February 25, 2017 6 pm – 6 am at rotating community churches in Rancho Cordova. Intake: Monday through Sunday 5 – 6 pm. Clients are dropped off at the shelter location and then returned to The Way of Life Church at 6 am the following morning. Photo ID required.  TB test is not required. Dinner and breakfast served. Sleeping bag and cot provided. No pets are allowed.

A rotating emergency shelter program by the local faith based community during the cold weather months. Dinner and breakfast served. Open from December 26, 2016 to February 11, 2017. Open to Citrus Heights residents age 18 and older. No animals. No TB test required.  Intake: Messiah Lutheran Church Monday through Sunday 4:30 – 5:30 pm (guests may not arrive prior to 4:30 pm). Checkout: Clients are dropped off at 7 am at the intake site. Space is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Prior night participation guarantees a spot for the next night. Guests may not go directly to any of the participating churches. Guests must register at the intake site at Messiah Lutheran Church. At intake, guests are provided with a clean sleeping bag and minimal storage place for belongings. Storage is limited and you will not be guaranteed space for excessive carts and belongings.

Warming centers open on days when the Pilgrimage Rotating Shelter is not open and overnight temperatures are forecast to be at or below 40 degrees. Open to everyone. Provides a heated indoor space with blankets, water, hot chocolate and snacks. Open December 24 – 27, 2016 and December 29, 2016 through January 1, 2017 from 6 pm – 6 am. Check the website for additional open dates and locations. Pets are welcome. Dog kennels of varying sizes, bags of dog food, blankets for each kennel and veterinary services will be provided.

A rotating emergency shelter program by the local faith based community during the cold weather months to provide shelter for people who are homeless in Elk Grove. Begins December 11, 2016 and runs for 12 weeks ending March 4, 2017. Local churches will provide accommodations for up to 20 men and women with a warm, dry place to sleep, a hot meal, and friendly companionship. Dinner and breakfast served. Sleeping bag and cot provided. Intake: Monday through Sunday 5:30 – 6 pm (Do not arrive earlier than 5:15 pm) at Elk Grove Methodist Church. Space is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Transportation provided to the local host church each night. Bikes can be stored and guests can bring one bag/backpack, but the churches do not have storage for other items. No pets (prearranged exceptions may be allowed).

Sandbag Locations:

When filled and placed properly, sandbags can help minimize the damage caused by flood waters and heavy rains. When conditions warrant, Sacramento County and the cities in Sacramento County may make sandbags available to residents. In addition, many hardware stores also carry sandbag supplies.
